The Samaritans is a vital charity dedicated to providing emotional support to those in distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide. The Samaritans ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone. This project explores how this collaboration has helped enhance their mission and impact.
In early March 2025, The Samaritans charity headquarters relocated to Marylebone, London. Nestled in a secluded mews, the organisation now enjoys new space, light, and comfort in their purpose-built offices. To celebrate this transition, Stephen painted and gifted a diptych oil painting for the reception area. The open brief was to align with the muted color scheme developed by the architects and to create a safe and peaceful environment for staff and visitors alike.
Stephen wrote a poem based on a Samaritans customer journey from Turbulent Waters to Tranquil Rockpools and is entitled Just Listen. With water as his theme, he shared, “I knew from the outset what I wanted to achieve as I’ve studied the art of water while in Morocco. This was a project that flowed through me, and I knew what I wanted to create.” The poem provides a meaningful context for those working and visiting The Samaritans, enhancing the experience of the space.
